An Automobile Row Celebration was held Saturday, April 26th in the Locust Business District. The event celebrated Locust Street as Historic Automobile Row by recognizing 7 of its buildings with commemorative plaques.
The Horseless Carriage Club of Missouri and the Hilliker Corporation sponsored the event. Over 40 pre-WWII model cars, representative of the types that were once sold at dealerships along Locust, drove along the route during the celebration. Celebrants walked along Locust Street to witness the unveiling of each plaque and learn about the automotive history of the selected buildings along the route. The Knighs of Swing Combo provided the music during the celebration.
